As the two of us made our way across the bleak countryside, the tower we sought came into view. The mists that blanketed the land seemed to thicken as we neared the citadel. The cold mist seemed to sap the life from the land and everything for miles. Shambling remnants of villagers shuffled mindlessly about the land as if lost in primordial suspension. Their eyes seemed to stare through you as if searching for some purpose for their grisly disposision. Keene and I found out first hand what happens when you wander too close to one of these shells of mortality. It seemed to spark a range, no more like a hunger for what they do not posses. Life. As if prod by some unseen force they lurch at you with extended arms and gaping mouths, seeking to take what they cannot have. Little effort was all it took to placate the situation and continue to our destination.

As we crest the last hillock that stood in our way, the sheer size of the tower was astounding, reaching to the heavens through the mist. We sat astride our mounts for a long moment summarizing our situation. Upon every buttress and walkway that surrounded the grand tower were armor clad undead minions standing guard as they must have in life. Most of them stood motionless and uncaring, though a few could barely be seen through the thick cold mist making perimeter checks. All of the undead sentinels that stood their guard were all corpreal, which proved to be somewhat of a relief to myself as I know in personal experience that the incorpreal ones are the hardest to deal with because of their cunning and their amazing retention of some if not most of their cognitive thought process. Keene leaned forward in this saddle straining his eyes ahead of our vantage point and raised a crooked finger. "What is that ahead of us?" I strained as I peered ahead. At first nothing seemed out of the ordinary until I caught the faint aura of an incorpreal being laying upon the ground as if dead. With extreme caution the two of us edged forward until we were just a few meters from the undead form lying on the ground. I didnt sense any malicious intent from the being as I have with most of the undead in these cursted lands. I could instantly assert that this being was of great power and knew that we had approached.

"What is it you seek?" The hollow voice of the spectre asked. The utterance of anything gave Keene a start. He had to forcibly restrain himself from intoning any incantations. Instinctively I had grasped my two similacrums of sorcery that I channeled my power through. "Such quick actions should surely land you amongst the rest of the inhabitants here by my will." The raspy voice assured. We visibly relaxed at the nonchalant warning. "Again I ask, what are you here for?" We come seeking a Tome of Knowledge that I have heard lie in rest in these unhallowed walls." I replied. The spectral form came upright from its prone position, and affixed its cold calculating eyes upon my own. "I too have came here to seek other resources that can be harvested here." The spectre said as he float nearer. "What you seek lies deep in these halls. I can surely lead you to this knowledge as I have just returned from a venture inside, and sought a rest of my psyche out here before I continued. My name is Uonly, and this is my creation." He stated as he swept an arm wide. The earth churned as his undead Abomination clawed its way from the earth. Much like my own, his Abomination seemed to be a bit larger and more fortified with bone plating and bone blades upon its sickly palid crown. It sneered at the two of us through its mud-caked visage before shambling over to Uonly's side.

I am Paralax, Necromancer hailing from Khal. And this is Keene my sorceror companion. Keene's calculating gaze never left Uonly. I could tell by his defensive posture that he wasn't about to trust this fellow. I figured by the heavy fortifications just outside how well guarded the secrets would be inside. As I wanted this Tome, necessity merits strange alliances with those you don't know or trust. And it's not below me to utilize others help to gain my ends. Since this fellow necromancer seems to be fairly knowledgeable of this place, he would make a useful asset for now. Keene seemed to read my thoughts as he took a deep breath and sat back in his saddle. Though not fully trusting, at the moment he wasnt about to launch a Chaos Volley at the helpful apparition. I quickly intoned the rites to summon my Abomination, bringing forth my own undead protector. With a quick once over of my minion, I returned my gaze to Uonly. "So shall we?"

The three of us turned to face the monstrous tower that stood before us. With grim determination upon our faces we strode forth.
