OMG! What do the DOT's mean!?!?!

You look a bit battered and tattered my young necromancer. Having a bad day? Biten off more than you can chew more times than you care to mention perhaps? It seems quite apparent that you do not know your dots!! Yes, that is correct, DOTS, and no I do not mean the spiffy space age Ice Cream.

I have been asked more than a few times to explain the whole DOT thing as it relates to the target window. I dug around the web and found the "official explanation" of it so read below and be forever rid of the DOT confusion!!

The Official Explanation:

The number of Dots-
In general, the dots indicate the following information (although your class and character development will of course have a strong impact on your effectiveness in battle):

  1. Can be safely engaged by most adventurers fighting solo. Adventurers with strong combat skills can fight multiple one-dot enemies at a time.
  2. Can usually be safely engaged solo. Combat specialists might be able to take on two or three at a time, with some luck and planning.
  3. Requires planning and preparation to fight solo. Avoid multiple Threes unless fighting in a group.
  4. Don't attempt to engage unless you're in a group.
  5. Don't attempt to engage unless you're in a strong and well-organized group.
  6. Only the strongest and most proficient groups should even try. Probably best to wait until you’re a higher level, or are part of a raid

The color of dots-
In addition to the number of dots a mob has, the color of the dots is also significant. The colors may be different for each player, as they reflect a comparison between the player's level and the mob's level:

  • Grey = Trivial meaning no xp.
  • Green = 3 levels below you gives a little xp.
  • Light Blue = 2 levels below you give a bit more xp.
  • White = Same level as you so gives avg xp.
  • Yellow = 1 level above gives a bit more xp.
  • Red = 2 levels above gives quite a bit more xp.
  • Purple = 3 levels+(i think) if you can kill this you got very lucky or cheated! Assume the xp would be large.

There you go fellow necros! The truth will set you free, err... or at least help you not get splattered all over the hillside by attacking something way too tough for you hehe.
