New playable races?!?!

Now when I first saw this latest news update on Vanguard Players I was absolutely certain that it must be somehow related to Vanguard... a promo maybe, cross selling initiative or some such. I mean SOE wouldn't be so obviously trying to market and make a buck, even if it was not in the least bit relevant. Noooooo, they wouldn't do that.

Oh wait, didn't they try to get everyone to sign up for the more expensive all station access pass by offering us a groovy new ONLINE TRADING CARD GAME !! I am sure they learned their lesson so this leads me to believe that this must have simply been a case of incorrect text accompanying their image in the news article .

To show that I am a good guy, I have added in what I assume to be a more relevant caption for the image.... I present you with an image of the upcoming new playable races!

 


 

I'm thinking the chickens are evil looking so will more than likely allow for necromancer as a class choice! WOOT!

Maybe at this rate we will soon have in game advertising too! Mind you, if all this marketing they are forcing down our throats somehow helps to fix the game with the profits earned then please make it so!

What's wrong with playing Penguins? I think it's the most underused race (that and code monkeys) in MMOs nowadays.

The penguins will likely be paladin playable for certain, you can always play a paly penguin.

Wow, this is great, I'll be an undead Chicken.
I can see it now See it now Thousands of necros and clerics make the macro "arise chicken... chicken arise" for when they need to rez us...

I not bothered by there advertising, to me makes sense for there company. If it was ingame advererts, then yes, i would have a problem with it :)

I fully understand their need to advertise, however, when all the current articles in the news section at Vanguard Players, and I mean ALL current articles do NOT in any way relate to Vanguard, I have a problem with that. Well there is a POLL mixed in with the non Vanguard news, but not exactly a breaking news update if you know what I mean.

They can feel free to advertise their products on more generic Sony pages / sites all they like and I won't gripe. On the Vanguard Players site, the official source for VANGUARD news one would expect to, I dunno, see some VANGUARD news maybe?

I will just sit back and await the day I can create Cornbane!!!

In game advertising would be ok as long as it fit the world setting. A great example would be Anarchy Online. I used to hold a paid account and would opt to turn the ads on because it just fit the enviroment very well.

The lack of _REAL_ Vanguard news, tho, is irritating!
