tsk tsk tsk... Impatient little Necromancer. How quickly you are to judge the rest of your life from only it's first few years or few few steps you might say. Do you really think that the fate of the necromancer was to be frail and weak their entire careers in the dark art of necromancy? As the old saying goes, good things come with time... I have seen and heard entirely too many new necromancers (level 1 - 4'ish) complaining about the class and disliking it after only a couple levels. I can not vouch for all classes but from the few I have personally played, the necromancer is the one that started off the gimpiest. The necromancer core abilities build up over the first 10 levels and until you really have gained them all you do not have a real understanding of how the class plays or how they compare to other classes in regards to power, solo ability, group ability, etc. Once you have your abomination and pet heal (lvl 4), snare (torment - lvl 2), fear (lvl 6), and drain life (lvl 8) your life as a necromancer will be much more interesting. So before you run away in despair feeling that your short lived life as a Necromancer of Telon was wasted, give it until lvl 10 before you make your decision. You might be surprised as the difference a few levels will make. Lifebane

I couldn't have addressed the noobie crowd any more subtly than you just have.
Great Article, (as always?)!

Soloing is a breeze (send pet in to get aggro, Torment, Pestilence, then Fear to save having to heal pet, couple Bone Spikes, mob dies, Vile Ritual on corpse to recharge, wash, rinse, repeat).

At 26 the same stunt has become easy enough to do half a level in two and a half hours, including raising harvesting skills significantly.
