Name Issues

Head GM Moonlite has posted some info regarding the merges and how name conflicts will be handled ( Source ):

The announcement regarding how names would work with the server merges was posted on 13^th June 2007, giving everyone plenty of notice that the oldest character that had logged in within the last 30 days before the merge would keep the name. This worked as intended.

Please read the following carefully, as any petitions not correctly filled out, will be deleted.

There are only three types of anomalies that we would now like to address and assist with via /petition.

• You own an account that has Bob and Bob1 (probably now named to Fred since you were prompted at log in to change) on it. You wish to swap the names over perhaps because Bob1 is your main, and Bob is your alt.
• You own Bob1, and have found Bob on server, and with absolutely no threat and under no duress, Bob has agreed to let you have the name.
• You own Bob1, and when you logged in it told you that you had to choose a new name. You picked the name too fast without putting thought into it and have since thought of a better name. (We can check that you were a character who had a number appended to the end, so if you were not, do not petition)

If you do not fall into any of these categories, do not petition.

In the first scenario you should petition from Bob and tell us the name of the two characters on your accounts. (We can check that you were Bob1 even if you changed it at login) You will need to tell us the name you want the Bob changed to, as we will need to change him before we change Bob1 back to Bob.

In the second scenario you should BOTH petition at the same time, from the correct characters wishing to change names so we can tie both petitions together. We will also wish to speak to Bob to confirm he was under no duress when asked to swap. Bob will need to tell us which new name he wants to have as we can not do anything without changing his name first. It would be wise for Bob to give 5 choices of name in case the first is already taken.

There are no guarantees you will get the name you require for the third scenario as it may be taken and all names must still fall in line with the naming policy. Please petition in game if you fall into the third category from the character requesting the change. When you petition, you need to tell us what your name was on your old server, and what you changed it to on the new.

If you fall into the above categories, we will only assist once.

This will begin today, Thursday 6^th September at noon, and will end Thursday 13^th September at noon. After this time, we will not assist with any first name changes unless they violate policy.

Please help us to make this go as quickly, and as smoothly as possible by including all information required, and not petitioning if you do not fall into the above three categories. Please also understand that this make take some time, and we would appreciate your patience while we work towards getting to your petition.
