A couple short days away from saying "Happy Birthday Vanguard!" Many skeptics never thought the game would last this long based on the rocky start it had. Yet here it is, patches and fixes slowly churning their way out.. I did say slowly right? Raids added and housing fixed for the most part. Now if only they'd get those flying mounts in game though, then I'd call it major progress!! There are also rumors buzzing around saying that the trial island for new players is nearing completion.,, that should help out player populations when it happens.

Is there more to be fixed? Most definitely! But in all fairness, the folks over at Vanguard have had a year of turmoil and insecurity where many friends and co-workers were let go from the company and the remaining ones no doubt worried for quite some time if they'd be following. Toss in the acquisition of Sigil by SOE and the corporate culture shock that ensued and you have a real roller coaster of a year. Despite these stressful complications and with the much smaller crew they still managed to contiue to improve the game. To the Vanguard team I'd like to say thanks for your efforts and for a job well done despite adversity!

Don't get too big headed though.. better yet, quit wasting time reading this.. go code more stuff! Where is my flying gnome pulled chariot! Get busy! chop chop!

Oh yes, this was posted on SOE"s official Vanguard site, a few little perks heading our way for the Anniversary it seems. Yay gifts!

"On January 30th, Vanguard: Saga of Heroes is celebrating its one year anniversary! For those of you who have been traveling the world of Telon, you'll be in for a special treat!

All players will be able to choose one of three bags, representing each sphere of the game. Choose wisely, as you will only be able to claim a single bag per account.

Avarem's Messenger Bag
This is the bag of Avarem, famed messenger of Telon. His swift feet made him a legend in the realm of delivery.

Equipping this bag will increase your run speed.

Silius' Enchanted Utility Pouch
A bag used by the master crafter Silius. Said to be a sadist, Silius' insatiable hunger for crafting made him a legend in the world of Telon. Some even say this bag is made from the skin of crafters which is why it seems to enhance the base attributes of the person wearing it.

Equipping this pouch will increase your crafting attributes.

Jansan's Valise of Ages
This valise was used by the great diplomat known as Jansan. His accomplishments have been lost in the winds and nowadays are nothing more than fairy tales told to aspiring diplomats. Of these stories there is one about a valise that granted him great presence and held an endless amount of information.

Equipping this valise will grant you 40 presence.

We're also working on the first of many veteran rewards which will be making their way into the game soon. Players will be granted a special title in addition to other gifts that will be available to claim. These veteran rewards will remain in the game, so if you haven't quite reached a mark yet, you'll still be able to claim them when you do!

Cake will also be on hand so that everyone can help celebrate Vanguard's one year anniversary! We can't thank the players enough for making the world of Telon what it is today. Your dedication and contributions to the game and its community are invaluable. We look forward to many more years of fun and excitement!"
